New here..have a question. Lump after 2nd MicroD

Is it normal to have a hard, sore lump under the incision? I am 7 days post my 2nd Micro D on level L5 S1. I am SO paranoid this time arounf cuz never want to go through the leg pain I did pre-op. I also had a strange swelling about 5 inches above the incision yesterday that is sore...today it is not as bad...but I have NO idea where that came from

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks MicMicro
 
When I was healing from my 2 level micro-d I had swelling (which a towel covered ice pack worked wonderfully) as well as a lump that at first I was already worrying scar tissue but we know how our post-op minRAB work!

I would of course call your dr but if they did (mine did) say you could use ice, I found those gel ice packs to work wonders, they form to your area you're applying it to as well as they last longer and arent as hard as reg ice packs or ice in itself plus no melting mess at the end.

I remeraber what you're talking about though. You may be doing too much too as I noticed if I did slightly more than usual mine swelled and felt how you say.

Call the doc, and if he said or the post op papers say you can use ice-covered with a towel as you dont want the area wet, get a gel pack (I had 3 so I could alternate when it really flared up) and rest some with some ice on it.
 
Thanks rosepetal! I think I will call on Monday cuz I am getting nervous! My hubby was looking at my back tonight and rubbed is hand along it and said "Wow I didnt know it was that big and hard"...and I have been icing it...doesnt seem to be going down much! I will let you know as soon as I find out something. The only thing that stinks is my NS is an hour away...ugh..so maybe we can just solve it via phone call. Thanks again for all your support!! :))
