Hi all, new to the forums and I had some questions about the Cricket Moto SLVR phone.. I've been looking through some stuff in the manual and I'm not able to find certain things, like how I would manage my APPS and what not, GPS location, and there is a 1.3mp setting for the camera, but the pictures only come out as thurabnail sized.. also there are no games.. I've connected my phone to my computer and used MPT to get my contacts going and whatnot.. but I feel that the phone is missing a bunch of features that are supposed to be standard.. Can anyone point me in the right direction for starting to get my phone back to what it should be?? Thanks alot for any help yall can give me!

I assume thats the motorola slvr L7c? Because im also stuck. Check with the settings on your phone because i got the 1.3Megapixel and it comes out nice.

umm slvr is only vga camera, not sure why there would be a 1.3mp setting. i don't have one in stock to play around with right now tho. as far as the games go? that's part of the buy down on the phone price. apps and games are the easiest thing to get rid of as there is no decrease in the functionality to the phone. i'll check on the camera when these come off backorder. most people tell me that it takes extremely good pictures.

Thanks for the replies guys.. I kinda figured that's why they (Apps & Games) aren't an option in the menu system.. seems like Cricket wants you to just do the cricket clicks thing to get them. I've seen much talk about flashing phones and what not.. Is there any way to get this back to like normal Motorola settings that would include games & apps?? Or is it pretty much carrier specific? Also on the camera ( this is my first camera phone and I'm not really sure what to expect quality wise ) I was hoping for better quality (I'll post samples at the bottom) I did a lot of research before buying the L7c and never saw anything but "VGA" listed as the camera.. so I assumed you got VGA and whatever resolutions under it. but 1.3mp is indeed an option, though when I got to put the pictures on my PC or send them to my email, they're only thurabnail sized.

I kinda figured as much about the games, I'm guessin the apps have to be BREW as well?? As for the camera phone, I was surprised to see 1.3mp as an option on there, cuz I was under the impression it only had VGA, but like I said, when 1.3mp is selected I get the tiny thurabnail sized pix :/

my phone uses a browser called "openwave". Im not sure if thats the brew browser, ive used the j2me browser with sprint. So im new any mobile browser

Hello ... well here's the deal. I have that same phone ... I've discovered that if you are using Motorola Phone Tools 4.24a ... you can change the phone from the automagically detected L7c (read SLVR) and tell the phone tools software that it is actually an L7cm, and you'll be able to do things like copy mp3s and ringtones to and from the phone, copy photos to and from phone, and use the Multimedia Studio software that comes with phone tools (might need to make a shortcut to it on your desktop though) and you'll get the use of all the cool features that cricket doesn't think you really need to access from your desktop. :2thurabs:

Cheers :buddies:

PS: The camera issue could be due to storage limitations of the phone without the microSD card that goes in the phone underneath the battery. (Just guessing but it is a place to start.)

Thanks for the tip. I got MPT to recognize the phone and what not. I've only used the prog to manage the phone book.. Adding songs and pictures is pretty easy to do through Windows Explorer. As for the camera, I bought a 1gb card and I'm using that to store pictures and stuff, but the 1.3mp mode still shoots tiny photos.. I guess it's not a huge deal, but still.

Ah. I see.. I'm just not sure how to access them from the phone. I can put stuff on the phone (miniSD) when I have it hooked up via USB, but not sure if there is anything I can do on the phone that will enable me to access them

I am interested in the Motorola SLVR L7c - Is it a good phone? Do you like it?
How is the sound quality?
Would you recommend a friend to buy this phone?
Any Pros/Cons?

Thanks so much for any info provided!

i love the phone. But if your looking to heavily mod it. That might be a problem because i havent found anyway to change themes on the phone. You can use MPT but even using that its tricky. Theres no games on it and it uses a openwave browser atleast through cricket. But its a nice sleek phone. Not as thin as it might appear but its still a nice phone. Its price, is what got me. I am having trouble with it detecting other bluetooth devices. But not a problem finding me.

I think it's pretty decent.. There are a few features that are missing out of the box, like Apps & Games.. but you can get some stuff off of Cricket Clicks. Web browsing is pretty much not there.. You can go to Crickets Home page deal and check email, weather, news, etc, but you really can't go out on your own for the most part.. I use Gmail and luckily Gmail is an email that is listed so that's cool. But from what I've gathered from this forum, Cricket is supposed to enable full access sooner or later. Battery life is great, I have it off the charger from about 7am till I go to bed around 10pm-ish and it holRAB a charge all day with normal usage. The Cricket version Does Not come with a MicroSD card, so you'll have to go out and get one. The camera is decent.. 1.3mp is an option but it doesn't work for me when I try it.. Pictures only come out in thurabnail sizes... so that kinda sucks. The audio player is pretty sweet, adding songs and whatnot is pretty easy, all you have to do is plug your phone up via MiniUSB and you're pretty much set. I've yet to try out the Bluetooth features, so I can't really comment on that. Overall it's a pretty decent phone for the price.. The interface is slick and responsive and it's easy to use. But if you're looking to add games and apps out of the box you might be disappointed.

yes it is a software bug that the 1.3mp option is there. the phone only has a vga camera and is unable to take picture at 1.3mp. either there is new software on the phones shipping now or it is coming out soon.

the fix? stop putting it in 1.3 mp setting. honestly though i don't know if they'll flash existing phones or not... to my knowledge that is the only problem with the phone and it doesn't seem that major to me, it's not like the phone locks up or something. it's just a minor inconvenience
