Just found this today when I re-logged in to my gmail account from home. I installed it on my 6630 and works great over t-zones! I like the search option, the compose section will pull contacts from the server and you can search the contacts right there. Very good implementation.
I do hate that it keeps asking for permission to connect. Is there a way to allow certain java apps to always connect? I wouldn't mind allowing all apps to connect, it's unlimited data. I get the same annoyance with smsbug but I don't use it that often.
A true Symbian app could probably be much more powerful and it would be nice if they could add the google talk feature. That reminds me. Anyone know a good Jabber client that does SSL?
Looks good. And it updates with new e-mails pretty quick. Maybe it was because I was opening others but you can always tell when you get a new one.
I just got fixed. Read the thread at http://groups.google.com/group/gmail-help-mobile/browse_frm/thread/f64fa669b8535b09/245dbf188da23c5f?lnk=gst&q=atr&rnum=1#245dbf188da23c5f
I don't think that's just Cingular, it's Symbian in general. My unbranded 6630 does the same thing. If Google can come out with a native symbian app that would get rid of the problem. I'm happy that since it's java based it works through a proxy and I can use it with t-zones.
yeah even though it asks me to connect I dont care this is my favorite app right now, it works well and I like that it keeps me signed in, no more opening opera, clicking book mark, logging in, etc.
I agree! And with Opera I would have to wait a long time for the page to open, sometimes refresh a couple of times. And this is so much faster for searching mails and stuff.
heh! Not so simple. For me for this suite I only get never allow, always ask or ask the first time. I don't get always allow. It's not the same for each app so I don't even know how to change that.
Great app, been using it for a few days on my e61. Works perfectly, easy to use. Love how the 'compose email' function is integrated with the e61 messaging software.
It is? Wow.. That's cool! Could you post a screen shot of that?
On my 6630 it just opens up a text window and you type away. I like the contact lookup.
If it integrates with the messaging software and you send using pop3 you could attach files. Although most of my e-mails sent from the phone include a picture and the E61 has no camera so I guess there's no advantage there.. hehe.
I use the messaging app to send email, so I can do attachments and such, and the gmail app to check emails etc. I wish the gmail app would allow attachments.
