...Focus; door ajar? transmission? Hi! My family has always bought foreign, but for my first car I decided to buy a used 2002 Ford Focus with about 70k miles on it. I had it checked out by a mechanic, and he said everything looked great on the inside. However, there are a few little tics that I've been a bit concerned about, but I've been told by fellow ford-owners that these are common problems with ford cars, and just to ignore them. Any advice?
1) My door ajar light just randomly decides to pop on and stay on for days at a time. My doors are fine! I've fiddled with the sensors a bit, which seem to be a little gunked-up, but otherwise they seem fine. What's wrong, and how can I fix it?
2) I drive an automatic, and when I hit about 35-45 mph (although I suppose it's rpm's that matter, right?) the car makes a sound when shifting. It's more of a rumble, and I can feel the car change gears, and then the rumble stops. It's not incredibly loud, but it does concern me, as I'm accustomed to driving a Honda, which is virtually silent.
