Hey guys.
I just got BEV with the brand new hd pvr reciever about 2 or 3 months ago.
A few weeks ago we had a huge storm and my dish was covered in snow.
I went up on the roof and brushed all the snow off and the satellite was working again. Well we just had another huge storm about 3 days ago and ever since my HD channells are gone out of the menu guide. There is nothing on the dish and it has a clear line of site but it is giving me the error it gave me when it was covered in snow. The error is "there might be a problem with your switch box" I called Bell tech support and told them my hd chanells were gone and Raju or whatever his name was said that I must have had the favorites on the wrong thing. I assured him it wasn't then he said that everything was plugged in wrong. But this makes no sense because I had HD channels perfectly for almost 3 months with crystal clear reception. Needless to say tech support is useless. He didn't listen to a word I said and did not acknowledge me at all.

Anyone ever come across this?

Unplug everything even the SW44 for a couple of minutes and then plug it back in. After it boots up and you still do not have any HD channels check your transponders (Installation in menu) on Sat 82 - transponder 13 - if the signal is low maybe the dish got moved - you could also try a check switch.

Don't unplug anything, without identifying the wires
If you don't know what wire is what, you wont get it working again
Run a check switch
If that doesn't fix it, check the power inserter (small silver box with an electrical wire hooked up, and 2 cables connected)
Unplug the power, and re connect it, with a 90 degree turn
Run check switch again
What is the dish mounted to? Brick/Concrete? or Wood/Siding/Roof?
If it is mounted to anything but brick/concrete, you may have moved it when you were brushing it off
It only takes a fraction of an inch to lose signal, and you may have knocked it off of 82, while maintaining 91, but all this is speculation...
Good luck, and let us know how it turns out

its mounted to the roof. Since I brushed it off it has worked that was like a month ago. But now it isnt. When I put it on sat 82 it says wrong satellite

sounds like an alignment issue...and a dish should NEVER be mounted on a roof...that is the absolute LAST place it should go, and in many cases, installers will refuse to mount it on a roof.

how much would a realignment be would you say.

Ya thats where the guy put it when he installed it.

The thing I am having trouble with, is this is the exact same error I was getting the first time before I got the snow off then it worked for about a month and now it isnt. Today it is very sunny out so Im hoping it will melt the snow all day and we will hopefully have the hd when i get home.

That problem will be solve in most cases by doing a checkswitch...
Go to MENU 6-1-1 were you would see the signal. Get to checkswitch and click select. You will have a message attention 057...go to check and test will start. A few minutes later you will have the result page... (Press VIEW TV to exit once you read the result) You should see 91 ODD 91 EVEN 82 ODD 82 EVEN. If one of them is missing something is wrong. Call back and schedule a tech

Your installationis warrantied 3 months so I would hurry to mak all the verifications since after that 3 months it would cost you 75$ to have a tech in

How do I schedule a tech visit the people i talk to want to chalk up the problem to I have the wrong favorites guide seleceted and wont listen to me. Is there any tricks

Did you try what I suggested?
Many people were having similar issues to yours recently, and it was resolved by running a check switch

Then run checkswitch, and tell us what errors , if any come up

I did the check switch test again last night and cut the power to everything then re did it and now it doesnt give me any signals at all. Ill definitly be calling a tech tonight when i get home. I just want it to work :(

The switch needs power, check the power inserter, as no signal at all sounds like an inserter issue

It could need re allignment
Was there not a screen that said something like
82 ..............91
Odd Even Odd Even
X X Good Good
I would call and book a service call now, and if you figure it out you can cancel it

You would have to call EV tech line...they will irst ask you to do troubleshooting with them, then schedule a tech

If your switch is mounted indoors (or where you can easily get at it), try bypassing it. Connect directly to the LNB on 91, run a check switch, see if you get any channels. Repeat with a cable to 82. This will tell you if it is an alignment issue or a problem with your switch.

Ok so I have an update. When I got home from work last night the HD channels were back in my guide. The only ones that work when i tried them were tsn rds and hdnet. I did a check switch and now im not getting a switchbox error but rather a reception error. On sat 91 I am getting about 41 percent. It wont even lock on to 82. I called tech support and actually finally got a really good agent and we concluded I probably needed an allignment. Since I am still under installation warranty they are sending a tech tomorrow. Ill keep you all updated and thanks for the advice.

Ask what the state of the roof is (where the dish was mounted)
It sounds like the screws may have pulled out from the roof, hopefully this is not the case
