New episodes of Beavis And Butthead coming soon?

Part of Beavis and Butt-Head's appeal was the ugly off-putting animation. It's gonna feel weird seeing digitally painted episodes of the show when it starts up again.

I'm also still mostly opposed to a revival, but if Mike Judge is on board, then I trust he can still put out a quality product.

Eh, Bevis & Butthead was a time piece, the scenes of them sitting around watching music videos was a fantastic part of the show and since MTV doesn't air much in the way of music videos now I can't help but to wonder what they are going to critisize. YouTube maybe? Movies perhaps? I don't know, I think bringing Bevis & Butthead back some 15 years after their popularity may be a risky move for MTV, hopefully if the show is bad the fans won't look back at B&B and remember this stuff, instead I hope they remember the B&B of old and that their original flair does not fade.

This news rules, Beavis.

Yes! This is great news. MTV will finally be airing a GOOD show again! I love Music Televis... oh.... wait.... I forgot that ended a long time ago.

Welcome back, Beavis and Butthead.

I'm gonna repeat what I said in another thread. Beavis and Butt-Head have no place in the modern world. Their appeal was that they were dumb slackers who spent all day watching music videos on TV. Their whole post-thrash, pre-grunge attitude was perfectly suited for the early-mid 1990s, and what they spent their days doing (watching MTV, loitering around convenient stores eating nachos and drinking slurpees, playing with garbage in junkyards and freeway overpasses) was relatable to kids of the time. I can't see teens today, in a world of Facebook and Youtube and reality TV, relating to these characters. Unless they dramatically change, and I really don't want that.

Which is why, if it does come back, I would want it to still take place in the 90s and be stuck in a sort of time-warp. Which would even make sense given the audience - this will mostly appeal to the late 20s/30-somethings who remember the show for nostalgia value. No teens of today will watch it. But I'm afraid MTV is just banking on the successful revivals of Family Guy and Futurama and assumes that B&B will be similarly successful. They'll probably force them to make fun of modern artists' music videos, even though just the idea of watching music videos on TV is a HUGE anachronism. Not to mention, how in god's name is this going to fit in between crap like Jersey Shore and Teen Mom? That audience won't have any idea what to do with this. If they really end up airing it on the main MTV, it'll flop and flop badly. They SHOULD air it late at night on MTV2, or maybe Spike or Comedy Central, and try to make it appeal to the people who it appealed to years ago, because there's no way it'll appeal to the same age group people today.

Which MTV network will this be on? I hope it'll be on MTV as i dont have MTV2 and any dvd releases of the new episodes will have the music video critiques edited out (especially the negative ones).

I disagree with you a bit. Teenagers are as crazy today as others were over 2 decades ago. Most teenagers today do know who Beavis and Butthead are, and you really don't know if this revival will flop badly until the time comes for the new episodes to air.

Why should this air on MTV2, Spike, or Comedy Central when the most sucessful place for it would still probably be MTV? If anything it could appeal to the teens of today and bring old viewers back to MTV if that is the channel it will air on.

I never watched Beavis and Butt-head growing up, but when I first checked it out a year or two ago, I found it absolutely hilarious. I think it's perfectly relatable now as it was back in the 90's.

Heck, it's more relatable since kids are even stupider than the titular duo nowadays.

It used to be Beavis and Butthead were what we worried MTV’s most moronic viewers were like.
These days they represent the least moronic a person can be to become a MTV star.

If they’re going to review things, I guess they’ll have to review what ever garbage is on MTV.
Though I think it would be ok if they did away with that part and just did the regular stories.

To be fair, Bieber is known for his self-depreciation (that's probably his sole redeeming factor). He actually tweeted to accept the "award" of being named the biggest Epic Fail of 2010. I'm sure he knows what Beavis & Butthead will do to him when they return.

Teenagers are still dumb and irresponsible, but can you actually imagine B&B using Facebook? Or Twitter? Or texting? Or doing anything with a computer or cell phone? I could barely even imagine them playing video games. The things teens spend their time doing today don't fit in with their characters. Furthermore, it fit really well in MTV back in it's day, but not today. How exactly would kids who watch stuff like The Hills, Jersey Shore, etc, and other shows that feature rich, beautiful people going to exclusive night clubs and parties in cities where celebrities hang out, find any appeal in an ugly cartoon that features 2 slacker losers who hang out at the local quick-mart in a dumpy mid-American town? I just can't see how it would work.

I could imagine them trying. Imagine them trying to make Stewart use Facebook to get them chicks, or getting into online chats with a "chick" that turns out to be a dude or Chris Hansen, or taking pictures of their junk with cell phones. Or maybe they try to become Youtube celebrities by creating videos featuring "stunts" in which Beavis is seriously injured. The tools may change, but the stupidity remains the same.

I just hope it's not crappy, overly slick flash animation. The hand-drawn crudeness of the show was a big part of its charm.

Jersey Shore doesn't fit the description you gave it. They only now became rich, I'd argue none of them are beautiful, I don't think those clubs they went to were exclusive, and I don't think many celeberties visit Seaside, New Jersey. Although it does describe The Hills to a T.
