New Datebook from LilRedSpider

T5 User's be aware that if you have alarms set you may have to do a "warm" boot which is hold down the up key during the reset but don't hold down the power key. The warm boot will bypass the alarm "handling" of TMP so that you can get your device back.

After that, I played with it. Neat little program for looking at your appointments ala a Daytimer or Franklin Covey format for the day view. You can color code days of the weeks but at the moment the program can not initiate a new task. According to the readme file they are working on it. You can however view either your task list and check them off or you can see a two month view.

As I said, it's a neat little program but not for me.

Pretty Cool, although it was disappointing to see "creation of to-dos is coming."

I actually like the "icon-less" look of it with font changes (10 possible in hi res!) and the coloring of days plus month views.

Excellent for "jazzing up" the plain scheduler. I haven't downloaded the beta so I don't know the app's size . . . but it seems nice to say the very least for an "alternative. . . . "

Wonder how much final will cost and if beta is limited?

It's only 177k so it doesn't take much.

The interface is a close to a paper view as you can get, IMHO.

But it's not for me although it does have it's merits.

Wow. Well at 1/8th - 1/10th Agendus that's saying something. I'm still using "Ag-upgrade-endus" but if this thing developed to quick to-do templates and drag and drop - I'd probably go with it.

Might load that bad boy, making sure (as pre-Datebook5 nightmare, Mooseman!) that I COPY the calendar and Task DBase to the SD Card beforehand, in case the proverbial "@@@ hell" ensues." I'f I like it I'll post back.

I imagine Moose needs the contact management history he talk about often with AGendus, and I'd sorely miss the text colorize/icon thing especially in month view combined with MakeSpot.

Still, 177k and WORKING, especially for T5 owners, might be a really cool "NEW PRODUCT that actually works" and something worth considering! I notice they fixed a bug in repeating to-dos - that alone took Iambic a year!

I don't know how much it will cost. However, I noticed the site says the current beta will expire on April 6, 2005.

I, too, like the simplicity of this program. Sometimes, icons give calendars a cluttered look. I like the paper planner look of this program. I used Day Timer before I started using electronic organizers and eventually PDAs. The simple interface made the DayTimer an effective and useable tool.

I wish developers would concentrate on making programs useful instead of concentrating on adding graphics bloatware. Most problems occuring in Agendus are conflics between the basic structure of the program and the icons, wallpaper, etc. that has been bundled into the package. I like the standard functions of Agendus. However, I feel that the icons and other graphic extras get in the way and cause the program to become unstable.

I think Datebk will continue to remain a good and stable product. While the next major release will add more functions, I don't picture Pimlico making Datebk a bloatware package. I am going to hold off on making any changes until I see the new version of Datebk.

I wonder when and how much Datebk 6 will cost when it's released?

And if the interface will change to more closely resemble Agendus or other programs.

I know PTL would agree that there is some merit to not charging for updates versus upgrades but one has to expect that if C.E. is going to release something with enhancements, he'll have to charge the DB5 user's for the upgrade.

I too will be watching....even though the 7100g is on it's way I'm still planning on using the T5 for most of my inputting and then I'll be able to read my stuff from the exchange server on the Blackberry.

This is going to be a wild ride with two different devices and two different OS's.

But I digress, Datebk6 will get me to look but I've also signed up again for beta testing Life@hand if it ever comes to reality.

I've also signed up TWICE for beta testing Life@hand. However, it seems like nothing is actually happening over there. There have been no responses to the many requests of prospective beta testers. This happened after a desperate plea for more testers. To sum up what I think of Life@hand, I'll believe it when I see it. Right now it is vaporware.

mega dittos......supposedly a beta will be in hand before summer but the original program was scheduled to be released back in Dec based upon the old web site so......vaporware until then.

1. I have completely ABANDONED Life@hand and deleted all bookmarks referring to them.

2. I'm still delighted with Agendus 8.06 and haven't had a SINGLE problem

3. I'd look at Datebk6

4. I have the most hope for this new beta and A5 - some combination of the two - if I replaced Agendus. I don't mind the icon "clutter" if it does some good in month view, and obviously you need to be able to create new tasks (preferable from templates or with default characteristics), which the new beta won't do yet.

5. While I'm not interested in an April 6th "drop dead;" (thanks for the date info, dwinget), when they have a final product I might purchase it and compare with A5 and in conjunction with A5. Both combined are a little more than 1/3 of 8.06 Agendus, and 1/4th of Agendus9.

i am still on Agendus 6.14. When I installed a more recent version crashes started. My only desire in 6.14 was hi res icons. This was solved with ICON MANAGER. I have tried teh LIL redspiders program and like it. Clear and uncluttered. Still icons on my callender help be organize my month faster. I jhave not ried A5 becasue I am fearful now of new programs on my T3. Several have crashed it and had to be removed ( upgrades of existing programs) I have less time than previously to sort out these problems. When my digitzer dies again I',, likely go with T5 or 6?. Can any one tell me if makespot can be coerced into working with Agendus 6.14. I'd like to change the color of some of the days...
