Is there a rule that new cars should not be driven at higher speeds upto some miles. I was told that a brand new car should not exceed some speed until some miles. is this true. I bought a new camry and I am driving it from 14 miles. I drove max 40 mph and now miles are 88.
please advise.

What they are saying is that, during the break in period, probably the first 5,000 miles, you need to drive it slower than usual and take it easy on accelerations. You can drive as fast as you want. Its just doing so will damage your new engine and your car won't last long. That is all.

Most engines these days are "Run In" by machines before they are actually put into a car so it should be fine

Read the owners manual. Most state not to drive at any constant speed or too fast, also hard braking should be avoided as the pads "bed in"
