Is it worth to buy the bell PVR or rent? Also sould I get it with or without the built in hard drive?

I am looking to get bell tv. On their website, it says that for new rental customers installation is free for up to 4 irds. However, I am confused with these statements:

Pretty sure you get both promotions since your in QC.

Save $100 off your receiver in hardware credits1
Complete and customized installation included2
Get 10/month off for 24 months

Typically, you can't "negotiate" a price, but there are many incentives to switch or signup. Check out the Bell web site for many offers and online signup discounts or just give them a call.

Bell continue to confuse the issue with reference to "4 IRD's" and then "4 Tuners", it has been happening for years now.

Basically you can have upto 4 Tuners installed for Free on a 2 Year Rental Agreement. So you can get a 9241 and 2 x Single Tuner Receivers all installed for free.

They have stopped charging for extra cable even when the poor installer has to use 600' to do an installation.....

The Source is selling a HD 6131 receiver for a hair under $150, regularly $200. Buy it and then you don't have to rent forever.

For Bell TV bundled discount, you get an additional $5 off since you have an HD receiver on the account. You can quote me on this.

If there is no built in Hard Drive it is not a PVR, just a receiver. Then it is upto you, the Customer to go out and buy an External Drive, to turn it into a PVR.

The model with the built in Hard Drive, is a true PVR, straight out of the box. It will also record 2 shows, while you are watching a 3rd, recorded show.

As for Buying or Renting, I have no idea, that is your call. I buy all my receivers but lots Rent.

I was called up by a rep for Bell yesterday with an offer.

36.00 per month for the first year of a 2 year contract. Second year is 46.00/mo

Includes:
1 HD receiver
1 Dish
Installation
160 HD channels

I was a little confused about the amount of HD channels since Lyngsat lists about 80 on Nimiq 82. The sales woman knew very little details about what exactly was included.
I was called 2 weeks ago by a rep from Telus with a similar deal that included 6 tier packages for 54.00/mo

Question:
Is there something going on here that I should know about?
I wonder why all of a sudden the Bell/Telus is getting aggressive?

sorry about my price, lightning is right according to his link (I guess I was still stuck on MB :))

Nice deal for QC! Other's only get one or the other I believe, wonder why.

I pay for Dish Care. I would have the receivers replaced under it if there was a problem.

I buy because otherwise my extra monthly charge for Renting would amount to $83, then there would be the programming.

Bell newspaper adds claim "....best picture quality, as rated by Ontario consumers..." according to an unnamed independent survey. Does anyone know where the actual survey content and results can be viewed?

Dish Care is a warrnty pln sold by Bell and BellTV. It used to cost 5$ when I started at Express Vu, then raised it to 6$ whithout notifing the clients, and lately to 6.95$, agan, with no surprise, whithout notifing the clients. If you have your plan thought Bell and have other waranty plan with Bell (cellular care, interior wiring plan) you are eligible to a discount

If your equipement (receiver, dish, remote) breaks after the initial 1 year warranty (for those who purchased their receivers) and have Dish Care Bell will replace the equipement FREE OF CHARGE. They will ship you the new piece, inside the box will be stickers pre-paid postage. You then put the defective unit in the box, and stick the sticker on it and drop it at a Canada Pos office.

If Bell find out that the break was caused by a negligence on your end, fr example if there is water inside the remote, they found out you dropped the receiver, causing it to malfunction, they might end up charging you on your next bill

It's 10 days if you went to a store, and agent knowcked at your door to offer you the service, or you called them; but it's 30 days if you bought the service with a telemarketter who called you up.

So, the question now is this a website error for those in QC or an actual deal? And then, will they get it right on the bill? Will look into this more. Thanks for the feedback guys and if anyone in QC has gone through the process and has more details, please share.

"I ended up purchasing, and am yet to see the $100 credit on my bill (have only had one bill). I have been assured it will show up on my 2nd bill though"

My experience with Bell is, the credit will not show up on your bill until you phone them at least one more time, after it doesn't show up on at least one more bill.
