For new subs to HD or anyone that wants to pay more for the same channels Bell will charge $15 for HD as a special for the same channels. After special of 4 themes for the price of two it looks like HD themes will go to $5 each or $25 total. From page 42 expressvu ad in Show magazine. Old subs are grandfathered in and can stay at the old rate

I cancelled my HD channels a number of months ago because the 9200 is unreliable when it comes to recording HD shows.

I discovered this morning that I was getting not only the CTV & CBC HD channels as before but all the Canadian and US HD network channels. Is this some mistake they made on my receiver or is it now available to everyone as part of a basic digital channels?

Is there an easy understandable .pdf programming brochure of Bell somewhere like this one from Star Choice http://www.starchoice.com/english/programming_guide_f.asp or they only have their uncheck/check box webpage witch is not really great at all?

thanks

DTV does not equal HDTV! Big difference. There is no date to convert SD channels to HD. That will likely be another decade at least.

actully, if I'm not mistaken,, I do belive that in Canada, all OTA channels by 2011 have to be HDTV, not to say the shows will be 16:9, but the format of the signal needs to be.

Interceptor, I understand. I had a similar package up until about a week ago but I was never under the impression that I would receive the HD equivalent of every SD channel that was added forever. I think that's a little unreasonable. I did however express my disappointment to Bell every time it happened just to keep them on their toes. They did however give me some new HD channels on occasion that I hadn't originally subscribed to.

I think you nailed it HDTV. Having previous experience with Bell and an old legacy package they will probably treat this the same way. I would guess that any new channels that get added or come off free preview will not be available to all-in-one'ers unless you convert over to the new pricing scheme. I went awhile without HDNET, A&E, Discovery, etc before I finally caved in and switched my package away from legacy.

Just curious if old HD pack will include HD geography and showcase channels once free preview is over.

That is not correct. 2011 is the year that Canadian Analog OTA channels have to be converted to digital, not HD, just digital SD.

There is an entire thread devoted to this topic http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=61760

If you can select 4/10$ shouldn't you be able to get 3/10$.
Maybe if I talk to a CSR they can do this in their system

Unless it IS all a ploy to force you to take the Sports package

i only sub to sports pak 1, and the HD theme, i guess it's called. I remember getting these other channels (oasis etc) quite a while back when you had to phone in to add them for free so i'm a bit nervous they might try and remove them at the end of this month, we shall see what happens.

If you want to be technical, instead of paying for Sports 2, take the SD pick and pay $2.50 raptors and you have fulfilled the needs. for those raps die hard. So Sports 1 + Raps SD pick and pay, and you are on your way.... no war here just stating facts.

The price of pork has gone up even if you still have some bacon left over from last week.

That's IF you get the $62 option. Othwise, with the $52 option, you only get standard definition.

With the $62 package, you get all of the channels shown in the "Free HD Channels" section, plus you get to pick 4 out of 5 of the available HD theme packs. I beleive the Movie Network/Super Channel HD stations are only available to those who subscribe to those specific packages however (someone correct me if I'm wrong?)

Menzel, I may have been unclear. I did not have any HD channels before, I wanted to get the 4 for $10 but because I don't subscribe to sports, I would have had to pay $15 for 3 and not get the west feeds. I sent this coupon in and now I get them all inlcuding east/west feeds for $10 with $15/mnth rebate. I think I made out okay. If they add more channels to make it actually worth the new packages after my 6 months, I can always switch over.

No, all channels OTA will have to be DIGITAL. This does not mean they will be in high definition. They can be digital, but in SD (480) resolution.

edit: scrooloose replied faster than I. ;-)

I am getting my service hooked up on Friday. I am also getting Basic HD pack and I was quoted $ 10 for 4 HD theme packs. I was not told anything about having to subscribe for equivalent SD pack and pay extra. I chatted with two different CSRs at two different times

Despite 2007, ExpressVu HAS the most digital subscribers in all of Canada. You heard it,
"The leading DIGITAL TV provider across the country".

HD Packs are great!!
