New battery but car still won't start?

OK, recently my car died and we figured it was the battery because none of the electronics were working, i.e. the remote clicker wasn't working, had to open the car by key. But once we hooked up a brand new battery, it still wouldn't start.
But the odd thing is, the electronics work. If the doors are open, the lights turn on; you insert the key into the ignition, you get the usual beeping sound. But as soon as I turn the ignition to start the engine, everything falls dead again and the engine won't start (but it makes a clicking sound). I'm not good with mechanics so some help will be appreciated.
 
its the starter... can you see the starter? have someone you know that knows what they are doing hit the starter with a hammer while you crank over the key... if not just a hammer use a long punch... the idea is that the starter is frozen and you need to break it free...
