New "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel" Trailer (Oct 1st)

This looks like nothing I would see in theaters. Maybe I will rent it on DVD.

I am aware that there have been chipmunk version of popular songs.

There are plenty of moments were the Chipmunks'/Chipettes' voices make overly-popular songs actually sound better/ actually tolerable, but this whole thing should just be kept as a musical gimmick, like Kids Bop unfortunately is. This shouldn't be a movie franchise or cartoon if it's not going to be put in capable hands that can make it so. The first movie wasn't put in capable hands, and look at the negative outcry for it...

That's why there so much hate towars this new movie coming out, and I don't blame these people. Heck, I'm one of them, sadly to admit.

Last I checked, some people liked it and some people disliked it and there was no overwhelming opinion of it one way or another.

I liked it. It actually managed to adapt the concept for live-action while keeping the basic concept: Songwriter Dave Seville's life gets turned upside down by mischevious singing chipmunks.
