New Alien prequel?

Agree with that above. I love Jeunet and his style so AR was always going to be ok with me, I thought it was pretty good up untill the newborn, I hated that and the film from that point forward though.

I'm all for a new Alien movie aslong as the people involved are the right ones, If Ridley is doing it I have total faith, bring it on.

I'd love to know more about the space jockey, and his crew and how they encountered the aliens, but I can't see this working as a Hollywood film. There'd be no humans in it and it would all be in a foreign language (assuming they don't happen to speak english :D)

I thought Ridley Scott's (potential) plan was to do a film with Sigourney about Ripley, which probably wouldn't feature the alien...

Yeah, I heard that too.

Me too, they messed that up so bad, I was hoping it would ahve been another Queen Alien showdown. The newborn just freaks me out, it's gross and I actually feel sorry for it when it dies.

I just wish we'd seen Joss' intended version. I still seriously think we should see a fifth film before we even go back to the beginning and infact I'd rather keep that a mystery. Mayeb we could see the Alien homeworld in a fifth film. Something some "Resurrection" production staff hinted at in the documentaries on the Alien Quadrilogy box set. :)

IIRC there is a bit of ambiguity in the Alien film as to how the Nostromo enRAB up at the planet where the alien ship has crash landed. Complete chance that 'Mother' picked up an alien distress signal or deliberate stop-off to investigate something another ship had already come across?

If this is the case, there is a potential plot for a prequel that does not mean focusing on the Space Jockey (would be a big mistake imo) or include Weaver (bigger mistake - she's too old). However, anything along those lines is just going to be a re-hashing of Alien or Aliens. To be fresh they're going to have to use a whole new angle i.e. Alien home world. TBH I can't see it working.

Not necessarily. They'd probably put in some crap story about how humans originated from the planet Scifiprequel and were slaves to the Space Jockeys....Tom Cruise would start a rebellion in his Californian accent and leave the SJ to die at the hanRAB of the Aliens while he and his ridiculously good looking love interest steal the second ship and head to earth. Yes you've heard it here first - Tom is the father of us all, kiRAB.

More info out on the prequel. The comment about having to light scenes in a different way to use 3d was interesting. Post production darkening > post production 3d anyway.

IGN again.

Well that sounRAB great. Take away from the director's vision of the film, just so you can put it in 3D

Look, I've nothing against 3D (and it looked amazing in Avatar) but if it's use is going to detract from the style the director wants to portray, it's nothing but a hindrance. If 3D isn't going to work for the necessary style of this film, it should not be used.

I'd rather see a short glimpse of something moving in a dark, murky chasm than an Alien leaping through the screen in 3D.

I think this is a sensible idea, in that way, the prequels could be seen as separate entities and not linked in a way that the first 4 films are. Ripley's non existence would also help. The question is, will these films have a place for humans? A completely non-human story would be brave...

I am glad that Ridley Scott has decided to take the reigns though... should be interesting.
