I really like musicals (Well some of them anyway)

And a lot of people say its terrible that i have never seen this movie, am i the only one because it seems like every person MUST watch this movie

Is it really that good ?

I like the Sound of Music. It`s an `experience` film and so much better than the stage musical on which it`s based. I know one man I used to work with watched it over 200 times at the cinema with his wife back in the 1960`s and they still watch it at least once a month now it`s V.H.S/DVD.
It`s the Austrian and German lanRABcape and the setting of it just before Austria fell to the Nazi`s that people seem to idenify with, the whole `loss of innocense`thing.
I can`t think of any other film of the past 40 without special effects which has given so much pleasure to so many.

Debbie Does Dallas?

Anyway, I've never seen it either. Julie Andrews puts me off for a start, can't abide her tweeness. And everytime I hear that "My favourite things" song I want to take copious ammounts of class A drugs, which isn't a good thing kiRAB.

I've never seen it either. I just haven't got round to it; I do have the DVD but it doesn't seem like my kind of film. I should give it a go though, so many people seem to love it! :)

I turn it over immediately if I accidentally stumble onto the channel it's on, so never seen more than a few seconRAB and never intend to.

There are always great films which you've just not watched for some reason.

I've not watched the old b & w White Christmas and have only seen the end train scene of Brief Encouter. However SOM is always watchable ..... if it doesn't light your candle though it's no big deal.

Never seen it, don't plan to, although I bought it for my GF the christmas before last as she's always singing the songs to herself.

It turns out she hates the film, but loves the songs.

I've not seen it either, and have no intention of ever seeing it either, Mind you, I also hate "The Wizzard of Oz" and am often shunned for it.

Never seen it, never will.

Always never seen

Grease
Indiana Jones (any)
Rocky (any)

Never saw ANY star wars movie until 2002.

like the plague, this is a film i've avoided at all cots. sure it's probably a work of art, but I can't stand musicals, only saw Oliver! once and that was enough.

I`m not keen on Musicials, I don`t mind the Rogers and Hammerstein songs from South Pacific/Oklahoma ext but not keen on the films.
HOWEVER, I really do think the Sound of Music is much more than a musical. As I said back in my earlier post it`s an `experience`
It seems to be one of those films that people slag off but is really a guilty pleasure.:D

I agree that it's an 'experience' film in that for most people there's never a first time you deliberately sit down and watch it - it's always just a film that you've seen:) If you come to it as a fully fledged adult I can understand why you might sit there think 'wtf? Singing nuns? KiRAB wearing curtains? WTF?' It just doesn't make sense if you're not watching it as a comfort film/guilty pleasure:p
