Neuromancer

Based on the William Gibson book, this is finally being made into a film version. This is not a remake of Johnny Mnemonic, which only nodded its head to Neuromancer.

Still in early stages, rumours that Hayden Christiansen will play Cage (though the character in the book is called Case), with an unknown movie director in the form of Joseph Kahn (previously director of Britney Spears, Madonna, U2 video's).

First poster for Neuromancer

I have really mixed feelings about this, first of all Hayden Christiansen - please don't let him anywhere near it. He is emotionless, bland and there are many better than he is.

The choice of Joseph Kahn could potentially be great, as in the unknown Peter Jackson does LotR great. That said, his one other film Torque, was a complete bust; so there is trepidation about this choice. Personally I would have gone with someone like Ridley Scott, with his Bladerunner vision of the future; this would work for me.

Good shout on Viggo, though it has been a long time since I read any of the trilogy.

Its funny I see someone like Thomas Jane playing Case, who I thought was reasonably good in The Mist; previously The Punisher.

On the director, I have a sneaking suspicion that this could turn out to be a good choice. While he is predominantly a music video director, he has done tv commercial work and with this one for Fox Sports - Cyborg as an example this could work imo. What makes this ironic, is that I mentioned Bladerunner in my first post :D

So will it have Molly? One problem with Johnny Mnemonic is that the rights to the Molly character got separated so that film couldn't use her. I hope that has been sorted out now.

I would think so, this is a direct adaptation of the book; so should have all the main characters in it. Coincidently Gibson isn't being consulted on this project, which could be a scary foretelling of what this film will be like.
