I am looking to have some business cards made up for networking purposes to improve my chances of finding a job after graduation. I've been scouring the internet and have found some ideas here and there, but they're often contradictory to one-another. For instance, should I list a "Career Objective" or not? "Job Title" or not? List information on both sides... or not? I'm open to any and all suggestions. I guess my primary holdup is the job title/career objective section.
Here's a little information about me to hopefully help you help me. Thanks!
I am currently in college and scheduled to graduate this December.
I will be graduating with:
•B.A. Geography – Urban and Regional Planning
•B.S.B.A in Management (ASCB Accreditation)
I have 10 years Active Duty in the Navy as an Electronics Technician, 3 of which were outside the electronics field doing Marketing, sales, and community relations.
I have been investing in residential real estate since 2003 and leasing the properties out as a landlord.
My career goal is to be gainfully employed in the "Community and Economic Development" arena.
I've been given awards for being the Top Speaker at competitive public speaking events by the National Honors Society. I was also awarded the Top Sales/Marketing/Community Relations person while in the Navy.
My resume, if I listed all of my experience and recognitions, would be 4 pages long. Obviously too much to put on a resume, let alone a Networking card.
A secondary career field would be something in the "Site Acquisition and Real Estate Development" arena.
Ultimately, I'm not certain enough about what I want to do after graduation to list a job title or specific career.
Any suggestions you can provide will be greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!
I should have probably added the following to my question:
- I currently hold two elected offices, both as Finance Officer, for charitable organizations.
- I am a member of the APA - American Planning Association
- I am currently doing an internship where I am learning about and doing the following:
· Uniform Construction Code Enforcement (Building Codes) Plan Review and Permitting
· Residential & Commercial UCC Building Inspections
· Residential Electrical Service Inspections
· International Property Maintenance Code Enforcement
· Rental Property Inspections and Permitting
· Zoning Ordinance Enforcement and Permitting
· Sewage Enforcement
· Street Signage
