Net phone and a Q

what are some phones that i can use to keep me connected to the net w.o being at home or near a computer... oh say posting on qj, checking email, aim (must), web browser.... all that jazz. it has to work w. verizon

and a Q. unlocked phones are not carrier specific right?. so if i unlock a sidekick 3 will it work w. verizon or another carrier? if so will any functions be cut off?
 
If you are looking at Verizon, then the Motorola Q or a Blackberry might be a good choice. T-Mo it would be the Dash or a Blackberry and Cingular would be the Blackjack, 8525 or a Blackberry.



Not exactly. An unlocked GSM phone, such as the Sidekick, will work on a GSM network, Cingular or T-Mobile, not on a CDMA network, Verizon or Sprint. The same is true for an unlocked CDMA. However both Sprint and Verizon tend to only allow their own branded phones on their networks. I guess Cingular and T-Mo don't really care. I don't know if Sprint and Verizon use slightly diffferent CDMA technology which makes the others phone not work well on their network.
