Neighbours, 7:00pm fiver - two add break? it this allowed?

thanks for finding this out. At least Five(r) give a genuine response.

I expect the itv's soaps and drama will soon follow sult(?)

As these two shows are Fiver's most watched programmes in the evening it is done to maximise its revenue to as much as their can. The cheek of them. Fiver would have more viewers had the double ad break not occured.

People will switch off.

I have stopped watching ITV over th years cos of increase in advertisement. When Sky show hour shows witha running time of 70 minutes annoys me as you only have 39 minutes of US shows so to have a 70 minute skot is ridiculous. I have now given up watching most things on SKy

I no longer watch Neighbours nor Home and Away either.

E4 annoy me too

I would rather buy a DVD box set of a show and watch it at my own leisure with no aRAB. Who cares its six months after everybody else. I don't.

This is bad news, though I suppose we all expected it might happen sooner or later. I've always found programmes unwatchable in the States due to the sheer amount of adverts shown. :(

This is only for digital channels.

ITV1, Channel 4, Five are only allowed 1 break in a 30 minute show.

And Fiver are only doing it because Home and Away/Neighbours do a lot better than the rest of the schedule, therefore they can put more adverts there and less elsewhere - other channels might want to balance them out a bit more.

I can see alot of people switching off. Fiver's Home and Away is the next days episode, Im sure lots of people would just rather wait until the next day on Five than sit through 2 advert breaks. And there are other times and places to watch Neighbours. One being online. How would that work for their advertisers, with less people watching.

And the last 2 days I have missed the start of another programme because of the change in Home and Away. Again more people will just watch the next day than always miss the start of another programme.

I guess Five will monitor it, but if 75% of the audience stick with it, its still worth more money to them. (75% watching 9 mins of adverts is better than 100% watching 4.5 mins of adverts)

And the other 25% will move to Five or Demand Five and they will still get money that way.
