Negotiating a new bb deal

Hi,
I am completely new to blackberries and the contracts. I am coming from the Fido city plan with unilmited talking minutes all the time and will need a substantial voice plan with my bb (1000 min plus) for work and personal. So I know I'm in for an expensive bb plan.

So... where can I negotiate with Rogers? Since it looks like I'll be spending about $140 - $160 before taxes, activiation fees, monthly fee etc, I want to see if they'll throw in the activation fee and call display at least. Can I push for more? What's reasonable and what do you recommend?

Thanks!!

As far as I know, the people in the stores don't have the ability to change anything, the only way to negotiate a price plan is over the phone with Rogers, I've done it many times. However, I've been a current customer with them while doing this, so Im not too sure how well it works out for new customers... It's not so much they change the prices but give you a credit back monthly.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i belive they will only do this over the phone and only if you were on a bes server with bell they will give you a deal then I think that's about it I doubt they will wilth fido because its ephers sister company pluse caller I'd and voice mail and I think 150 text messages a month do about 10 or 15 bucks a month

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~only time I have ever been able to negotiate with a carrier is if I have been with them for a while. It is unusual for a carrier to negotiate with a new customer unless you are bringing a large corporation with you. In my experience as a new customer what you see is what you pay.

rogers is notorious for bending their own rules. I am convinced no two customers pay the same price for anything they offer.
What they do is make you pay full price, but will credit you for other legacy services.

IE, their data plans might be through the roof but if you call and complain enough times they might wave charges on voicemail or call display or txt'ing.

it also depends on what kind of customer you are. My friend works for Rogers, she told me that some small businesses (even individuals) have monthly bills in the $$thousands$$. Rogers will do anything to keep their business.

It's true, they'll usually bend a bit if they think they're going to loose you... don't be too rude, if they think they're going to loose you for sure, they may clam up & offer you Zilch...

hi, Im not happy with rogers plans but I do have a story. I have been a client with rogers for about 5 years and in the summer of 2006 I was offered a hardware upgrade. I took out a family plan and was offered two phones, which I then upgraded to a better model. Overall price was very low. However at this time I was told that I would not be able to upgrade my phone for at least 3 years. Now being a client with phone bills in the 100's (never in the 1 000's), I went back to rogers to buy a bb. After one YES ONE year ( I still had 2 years left on my contract), they gave me a bb upgrade!!!! I expected to pay full price but they said I earned enough credits! SO if your looking for something from rogers they will be more likely to give it to you if you are a higher revenue generating client.

There is around 5 levels on income. depending on how much they make off your account depends on the price and time of your hardware upgrade. With a BlackBerry you have an extra 60+ dollars of income for them. Usually you can get a new one every year for around 200 off.

If you are going to be a high end user and want to gain ground with Rogers on negotiating a deal, your best option is to contact their sales division on the telephone. If you go into a corporate store, depending on your plan, options and other add-ons, they may give you a deal on the device but as mentioned in other replies, they do not have any negotiating power when it comes to plan discounts. If you phoned and explain you were considering signing on with Rogers and you wanted to run a few things by them to confirm yeah or neah, I'm sure they would assist. If you were to sign a contract with that type of high usage, I'm sure along with a discount on the device for sigining a contract, they would throw in a value bundle and definitely waive the activation fee. No guarantees but they will work out a great deal for you!
