I need your help guys and gals ive been trying to sign the rotate me app for the past week and cant get it to work. Ive followed all the instructions that where provided originally for the Fexplorer signing procedure (changing file names of course) but I never get an outputted signed file when clicking on the bat file.

Here is what I do step by step (instructions are here http://www.gosymbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=757 )

I download the app and install it

I then download http://www.gosymbian.com/dhscr/files/signing_files.zip which has the following files

auto_signsis.bat
signsis.exe
sultan.key

I create the csr key (test.csr) using the sultan.key and password 0123456 and upload it. I then download the test.htm file from the site.

I edit the bat file to this since I was told I have to rename it to the sis file I want to sign.

signsis rotateme_unsigned.sis rotateme.sis test.cer sultan.key 0123456

I then save and click the bat file (everything below is in the same folder)

auto_signsis.bat
signsis.exe
sultan.key
test.csr
test.htm
rotateme_unsigned.sis

Am I missing something?

Ive also tried renaming the downloaded test.htm to test.csr which didn't help. I used the following in the bat file edit

signsis rotateme.sis rotateme.sis test.cer sultan.key 0123456

Signsis rotateme_unsigned.sis rotateme.sis test.cer sultan.key 0123456

Signsis rotateme_unsigned.sis rotateme1.sis test.cer sultan.key 0123456

Any help would be appreciated since without knowing what im doing wrong many unsigned apps will not be available to me. Also im going crazy trying to figure this out and I know its probably something very simple and stupid
 
Maybe you can shoot your IMEI to someone that can do it easily. I didnt sign mine but someone did it for me out of the kindnest of their heart in a matter of seconds.
 
I know but I still want to know what im doing wrong. You know the give a man a fish or teach him how to fish thing

Also I change my phone so much I want to know how to do it myself for when I next change hardware
 
I gotcha! A real go getter huh? I say get the N95 and not worry about it! Built in Landscape that doesnt sap the already depleted RAM! Not to mention, I think fp2 is going to have landscape built in. Pocket PC's have been doing it for 3 years....Nokia has to assimilate at some point.
 
Ya but for the price it will be going for id rather use rotate me for now and wait for the E90 to come out. More ram and better battery then the N95. Don't get me wrong if they had a battery worthy of the N95 abilities I would go for it but I had the N80 and couldn't stand how much charging it needed with my usage. Also I got used to the N73 battery life now so I wont settle for anything less.

Camera is important to me but the more megapixel there is not necessarily the better.Id take an excellent 1MP with auto focus over a bad 5MP auto focus any day
 
Yeah..coming from the N73 is tough. I remember buying a 2nd battery for my N73 and I never used it once. E90 will be incredible but it's too far away. n95 is good for now and if it's frustrating I can always sell it as I know i'm going to get the E90. I'm sure someones going to get you the answers your looking for as many people have had success with it. Good luck!

wherein ***** is the code you put in the devcert ....

^ oh, also for the key thingy, don't use sultan. input "rotateme", locate on yer drive (rotateme.key) and put in common folder w/rest of junk and blammo!

oh oh it's magic ...
 
wasnt able to find a rotateme.key on my drive did a search on my full PC. I renamed the sultan key to rotateme.key but it still didnt work

Tried signsis rotateme.Unsigned.sis rotateme.signed.sis rotateme.cer rotateme.key 0123456

and

signsis rotateme_unsigned.sis rotateme.signed.sis rotateme.cer rotateme.key 123456 (since the unsigned app is named rotateme_unsigned)

and still no output file.

The htm file I download do I rename it to rotateme.cer or leave it as is cause I tried both and still no go.

I then changed the name of the htm file to rotateme.cer in case that was it but in all cases it wont give me an output file anywhere

Here are some print screens

I download these files


rename the sultan key to rotateme.key

open the exe application and enter the name rotateme for the output file


I select the key and enter 0123456 which is the password


I enter my country and other info.Then enter my IMEI and select all the features and create the rotateme.csr file

I upload it to the site and download rotateme.htm

put everything in one folder


changed the bat file to the above options and nothing happenes (I then tried the bat file with the mods seen above)
 
ok don't rename sultan, when you're at the screen that asks for the key, just type "rotateme" I didn't bother typing the location and all that as this will create a new key file somewherez on the drive.



Also, I used the passcode, "12345" forget that zero and six.



yes, this is correct. It must be input exactly as the file appears in your folder.



You don't rename anything. As I said before, when you just type "rotateme" in for your key file a new file will be generated. I just name everything the same as it's easier, and it works.

Again, no renaming. Use the files that are generated;

* rotateme.key
* rotateme.cer
* rotateme.csr

And the files that you d/l'ed

* autosign.bat
* signsis.exe

Nothing more. Again, it isn't working because you're changing file names instead of using files that are generated specifically for the app.

Thanks so much. It didnt work at first I then renamed rotateme.htm to rotateme.cer. That and the not using the sultan key thing cleared it up. Thanks a bunch
 
Funny thing is I tried the same procedure with the new FExplore beta and I dont get any file im using this for the bat file

signsis FExplorer.sis FExplorer_signed.sis FExplorer.cer FExplorer.key 123456

key was obtained the same way as the other app. I didnt use sultan just a new one.Uploaded the file downloaded the htm renamed it to FExplorer.cer, FExplorer was named FExplorer.sis in the folder and still no go?

Is there a different procedure for every time or have I been working too long today?
 
Firstly, I'm glad that it finally worked out for you. I know that you could have just gotten anyone (me even ) to sign it for you, but there's nothing better than gettin 'er done on yer lonesome. Well done.

But to answer the question, no. The procedure is exactly the same. I find it really strange that your unsigned file is simply named FExplorer.sis and not FExplorer.unsigned.sis or FExplorer_unsigned.sis. Hmmm, ok I've got that file and it seems that it should be named FExplorer_116b_unsigned.SIS. You need to get that one mebbe and try 'er again.

Its actually FExplorer_english_3ed_116b_unsigned.SIS

Got it to work it seems the sis extention is cap sensitive so I was putting exactly what it was names but with .SIS as in the file. Changing it to .sis fixed it.
