need to reformat corrupted flash drive, write protected though.?

I have a corrupted flash drive,
the original error was "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable". I managed to get the data off of it using a data recovery program, but I want to reformat the flash drive so I can use it again. It won't let me, it reads as write protected...even though it shouldn't be. I played around with some windows functions that sorta promised to remove the write protection but it didn't work.

I know the drive might be busted, but the fact that i was able to get the info off suggests that it might be save-able. does anyone know of a program that can reformat a flash drive and get around this write protection thing?
