Need-to-knows for Army basic?

I want to go in as 31b, but they have a goofy rule that you have to be 18 when you enlist. So on my 18th birthday Imma try to ship out as fast as possible. I'm currently in Navy ROTC. I know the 3 army general orders and learning the soldiers creed. I'm also commander of the orienteering team ( not sure how much of that they teach in basic. How much different is the marching/commands in the army? any other info that I need to know?

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind: You will be on a first-name basis with your drill sergeants. Your new first name will be "Trainee." And it's amazing how many parents named their kids "Drill Sergeant."

Basic training is designed to tell someone who knows nothing about the army what they need to know. You will have plenty of time to adjust what you know now to the army way of things. With ROTC training you may end up being a trainee squad leader.
