Okay, after doing alot of research I am almost convinced I have gallstones, and things just got a bit worse after noticing blood after I visited the toilet. The problem is I am so terrified. Partly because my nan was diagnosed with gallstones, then it turned out to be cancer and she passed away. I know I really shouldn't worry about it being cancer because it won't be, but it still scares me for a weird reason... also, the thought of having an operation scares me.

PLEASE help!! It's not like I am just a little kid either, I am 18. My dad knows a great doctor who will probably be miles better than my own, but I am too scared to even make an appointment. I am also scared by what an untreated gallbladder will cause, so I am kind of stuck in the middle!

Can anyone help? I know I need a doctor soon. :(

At 18 it's probably not gallstones - or cancer.

Many of the symptoms of gallstones are shared by other more common, and easier to treat, problems.

Blood while defecating isn't a symptom of gall badder disease. Bright red blood seen on tissue paper (esp after a hard stool or diarrhea) is often from a small cut, called a fissure. Fissures, just like any small cut, will heal themselves, though you do need to be careful not to reopen it before it's healed completely. A few days on a soft diet should do the trick.

Go see your doctor, you'll worry yourself sick worrying about what to worry about! ;)
