I have to explain to Liberty Mutual why I requested std for a chronic pain situation. I have to make them understand that my pain was escalating, with multiple issues (back, leg, now shoulder and neck)-- and I just really needed a TIME OUT to recover from some minor procedures- I was missing a fair amount of work under FMLA, and they seem to think that the recovery time from the epidural and burning the nerves, plus getting recommended to specialists, changing my medication, and getting an MRI did not warrant STD. I have truly needed this time to rest and recover, because work was getting to be too much for me under this stress, and I don't recover as quickly from these procedures as some people. Anyone else run into this?

Few ins. companies will let you go on std for procedures such as these. Being stressed is not what they consider a good reason. The doctor will back you up for being off work a day or two for some procedures but not longer unless there are complications such as infection.
