Need to be seen better

I put in HID lights, and have Kapsco Fantasy lights that can blink, swirl and change about 20 different versions. I know I get noticed, people are always pulling up to check them out. In the day time I may be an azz, but I go through intersections with horn blaring, lights blinking. Of course, it only takes one no matter what u have or do.

I replaced my auxiliary lamps by 2 amber sealed beams. Studies show that yellow attracts more attention than white in traffic.
I hate headlight modulators. They get on my nerves. When I ride in a group with a guy having one behind me, I tell him to either turn it off or move in front of me.
For the ones having their auxiliary lamps wired with the high beam, it's illegal where I live. They must be coupled with the low beam.
Check with your DMV if it's legal in your State cause you might get noticed better by the motorists but also by the cops. I'm just sayin' .

Be careful with the headlight modulators.

Some people think you are actually signalling them to make a turn in front of you. My buddy just had this happen. He came upon an intersection and the lady turned and he nearly t-boned her. She even gave the "thank you wave" for letting her through.

I use a Wig Wag for my brake lights. they alternate and flash. Really gets the attention of those behind me.

Best advice I can give is whenever there is a car near you, keep a heads up of your exit route and expect them to do something stupid.

No matter what precautions one takes, none of them will be 100% so to call them a false sense of security is partially true. What we are really doing is increasing the odds of other drivers seeing and/or hearing us. So if you only take one precaution, e. g. florescent vest, it's better than doing nothing. I don't remember where I read it but a white helmet is one color that is more visible than other colors, especially black. Also, front lighting that is configured in a triangular pattern is more visible (visual interpretation) to other drivers than a single light pattern. So a better solution for some might be something like moto lights mounted lower than your headlight. I had that configuration on a BMW K1200 LT and I don't remember anyone ever pulling out in front of me. On my Road King (3 lights across pattern), I've had people pulling out in front of me at least 3-4 times. Be safe.

I use to be a all black harley tshirt guy, this past year I have bought 2 bright yellow and 1 orange, plus bought a high vis vest, I figure if it helps just once its worth it. and as far as "looking gay". If theres a chance it keeps me on 2 wheels I am ok with that.

I live in the Chicago area I will take all the help I can get being seen.

I am not sure about that because I never compared. With HID, I never had to turn the High Beam ON.

Also, on the HID system, the High Beam mode just changes the focus of the bulb a little higher on the road. It is the same intensity as HID Low, just aimed higher.

Believe me, it is Bright! Riders infront of me call my bike "the Sun". Of course, they are all getting the kit also...

Keep in mind that most, if not all, new quality cars have HID headlights. There is no question that the HID is brighter and better, at least in my mind. All my bikes and cars have HID. As some say, your mileage might vary, so you have to decide for yourself...
