Need to be seen better

I have the back-off brake light module, loud pipes, always run with all the lights on and occassionally I fly 2 three foot by 5 foot American Flags. They still don't see me!

I hear ya......personally I think the guys (mostly wingers) that always ride in the day glo riding suits look like dorks....BUT

Two aquaintances (one of whom is a VERY safe rider, and always wears ATGATT) were taken out last week on highways. (they will both survive, but one of em won't walk unassisted for a few months)

Having said that, I am going to the dealership this afternoon to look at one of the hi-viz riding jackets that HD sells.

If being seen was the real problem how can you explain people pulling out in front of a semi truck?
Do not be fooled into thinking that loud pipes- or bright lights and wild colors will stop other peoples poor driving habits. It will not.
Be alert at all times and make sure you are capable of laying your bike down to avoid a head on crash. Trust no car or bike or truck to do the right thing. They won't.
Skill and attention to you and the road and the thought that everyone is out to kill you is the ONLY thing that will keep you safe.
Loud pipes make a lot of noise
wild colors make ya look gay
flashing lights distract other riders
You can get all those items- and let your guard down and get kilt.
All my best to you.

You did what he wanted you to do- pull off-
I usually compensate for the shortened distance that other drivers allow by slowing to the appropriate speed. 5' off my bumper is 5mph. or 1/2 a car length.
1 car length for each 10 mph- 50mph is 5 car lengths or about 100 feet.
I won't pull off and reward the poor driver for his poor driving habits.
they will pass- but I am safer.

I have the Hi/Lo 35W 6000K light bulb. Night and day difference for $37.50...

As has been mentioned, the people we have to worry about can't see semi trucks and school buses with the flashing lights. I have my bike lit up rather well, but don't expect that to help unless they are already paying attention.

Police cars get hit all the time when they have people pulled over, lights flashing.. It doesn't matter how loud your bike or clothes are, people just don't pay attention.. All those things are a false sense of security.. Ride as if no one sees you, even if they make eye contact with you.. Trust no one..

Loud pipes wont help you much if you're stopped at a light or stopped in the road waiting for traffic trying to make a left hand turn..

In 08 I pulled the 27W passing lamp bulbs and replaced them with a 55W bulbs. Get a lot of cagers flashing during day light riding and it helps to be seen, but one must be prepaired for the unexpected at all times. I also wired the passing lamps to stay on with the hi beams on, great when forced to ride at night. Every little bit helps.
