Need to be seen better

The wife and I went out for a three day ride this past weekend and almost got taken out 3 times. I couldn't believe it, I've never had so many close calls on one ride. Anyways was talking with one of the guys at work today and he commented that my 09 E. Glide in denim black is hard to see. This got me thinking about how I could make my bike more noticeable. I wear an orange flake helmet (Bell Custom 500) and always ride with my passing lamps on, but I am wondering what else I can do. Additional lights? Upgraded headlamp? I am even considering having the bike re-sprayed (love Atomic Orange on the new Vettes). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Change front and rear directional lights to brighter LED's.
Get the kit that makes all three rear lights act as brake lights.
Change headlight bulb to HID.
Get loud pipes.
Bright colored clothes and helmet with reflective strips help at night.

That pretty much sums it up for me...

The first items that come to mind for me is;

Replace the tail light for Brightasslight. http://slingshot2.powweb.com/site/

Modulator for the headlight if legal where you live.

Louder pipes if you have not done so already.

Get a bright Yellow mesh jacket or the Harley bright Harley Orange mesh jacket. Change your riding style by slowing down a little when in the danger zones, intersections four lane roads with or without a middle turning lane, intersections and passing cars.

Try the Path Blazer Headlight Modulator. ( I can swear By it). You have no idea how many times people think I am a cop and get out of my way. I kinda feel bad, but it is legal, and they will notice and see you. For the rear I have Harley LED Saddlebag spoiler lights and Kissan TEchnologies trail Blazer. It blinks three fast times and then slows to on (For the brake light).

Good Luck with it...I feel much safer with it.

I am not knowledgable on HID lights, so if you guys can post some links it would be greatly appreciated. I have seen the brightasslights taillight at my local dealer and agree that they are very bright, but my problem seems to be people turning in front of me, not so much tailgating, etc. I am a very cautious rider, especially with my wife on the back, I always slow down at intersections and cover my brakes (saved me from eating the hood of a Ford pickup on Friday).

Don't know about others...but I like to think I have a unique riding style.

"Trust No One"
"Everyone is out to get me"

Also, I was at local dealership this weekend.
Saw some bright ass orange HD safety vests.
I don't like the idea of wearing one.
But I like the idea of my brain spread across the road even less.
I may just go back and get that vest.

Get louder pipes if you want them, they won't do a thing for people turning in front of you.

I've been toying with the idea of adding Motolights. They're really noticeable during the day and at night. You've already got a bright helmet, consider a high-viz jacket or vest as well.

I added the HD fog lights on my engine quards and added the extra tailight/brake license plate holder to my 03 EG Standard a year after I bought it. Did it to be noticed not really caring that they may not look cool. I run all five lights up front all the time and really get noticed. I do not drive a lot after dark...but when I do the added lights really increased my vision.
