Need some tips on asking girls to a dance.?

I am an 11th grader guy in need of tips. How to ask a girl out when I have rarely talked to her? I know her, have talked to her before but not so often and mostly with school related matter.

Preferably do not comment with random stuff like "grow a pair" etc.
