Need Some Reassurance

Since my early 20s, I have been plagued by a problem that causes many scared people to flock to the ER. Panic/anxiety attacks. Mine are severe, causing real chest pain, sometimes shortness of breath, can last for days, even weeks.

Now I am in that fear zone again because I have this troubling symptom. Three weeks ago, I started feeling an ache in the crook of my left arm right where they typically draw blood and three fingers on my left hand giving numbness sensations on the fingertips.

I made the mistake of looking up the syptom online, and it told me that left arm and hand numbness is an emergency, get help asap. I immediately felt chest pain, and was terrified. I went home, and tried to relax. I did some exercising and felt better. The numbness went away.

Unfortunately, every day, it comes back usually while I'm at work on the computer and scares me. I fear that it will get worse, but it's always in the same fingers, same left hand. THe problem did start around teh same time I had a neck adjustment done at a chiro.

The good news is I've gone to the gym several times, lifted weights and elipitical machine. I usually feel better instead of weak. This tells me that my problem is even nerve related or stress.

However, if the numbness is being caused by a clogged artery, wouldn't the symptoms be more severe and constant? Is it likely that a heart attack victim could go around for weeks with symptoms and work out at the gym with no problems?
