Just got a HTC touch phone. Had my flashy guy do a great job on everything
Howevr i got a question and i cant get ahold of him as of the second and i am leaving town tomorrow.

I am in denver, Dont know what PRL i have but i added 15 to my flexbucket to get 38min of roaming.

Q. Do i need to get a specific PRL so the roaming will work?

I already switched to NAM2 and tryed a *228 and had no luck. It just rang a bunch of times and had a recording that it couldnt do something...blah( i just hung up).

I dont want to *228 on nam 1 for fears of messing up the EV connectivity on this nam.

If i do need to do a *228 how do i make nam2 go to otasp

three things needed to roam:
you need a roam option/plan on the account
you need money in your bucket (which you have)
you need a roaming prl.

if you just need the roaiming prl, put a regular cricket prl into NAM2 and do a *228. this should download the correct roaming prl if you have a roam option on your account.

if the *228 is connecting to cricket but failing (i don't think so because it shouldn't ring, but if it does...) then you will need to figure out which roaming prl you are supposed to have and load that manually onto your phone.

According to crickets website i dont need a roamiong package,

A second option is to pay for Nationwide Roaming minutes as you need them. This option is perfect for the occasional traveler, who does not leave their Cricket home calling area often. To take advantage of this option, complete the following steps:
1. Make sure you have a dual or tri-mode phone.
2. Visit a Cricket

I learned the hard way that you MUST have a cricket roaming plan for roaming to work properly. This was 2-3 months ago and could have changed, but even with the roaming codes added to my account, I was roaming on Sprint instead of Verizon and it didn't work properly. When I switched to the 50 dollar plan with 30 minutes of roaming, all my problems got corrected.

It sucks, but I'd rather pay the extra 5 a month and have roaming that works, than pay 45 and roaming that is hit or miss depending on what city I am in.

get the $50 plan and try *228.... you will more than likely lose EVDO unless you know how to setup dual nam to where you can load a roaming PRL on nam2 (then u don't need *228)

I switched to nam 2 did a *22807 and it programmed where a 228 wouldent work. than i did a 228 and it worked.
so after reboot on nam2 i looked at device info and it says prl 01011 witch is the same as nam1 my flashy guy i think installed 1050 because of the ev and if i use the search feature in the explorer and use prl as a keyword the olny fiile it locates is a file named 1050.
so i dont know. i guuess i will just have to see.
is there a way in the file explorer to look and see what prl i got when i did the 228 on nam2?

thx for the help i aint leavin town till this evenin so i am hopeing to get resolution b4.
thanks in advance.

I posted Denver's EvDO roaming PRL in the PRL thread. EvDO is released in Denver, so you'll *228 compatible PRLs.

*edit: the post is gone, and it's not on the list.

Switch to a plan with EvDO included ($50 includes 30 minutes), make sure your SPC is 000000, and then *228. You'll get the right PRL.

Does one need to have money in their flexbucket to roam? I have a friend that has a nationwide plan right now, they can recieve text messages so they have a signal and the proper prl, but whenever they make a call it just goes dead. We are going to add some flexbucket minutes shortley, just wanted to see if maybe that was it, or what else it may be. They have a R210 tri-band phone, and are in New Jersey.

Like I said I tried the flex bucket + roaming codes on my account and it just sucked. I had to go with a roaming plan, and now I have all that $$ just sitting in my flex bucket.

As far as your dead calls, sounRAB like a network issue not a PRL issue.

different networks will react differently to not having minutes/funRAB remaining.

there should be no difference between roaming boltons and nationwide plans in functionality. the fact that you were getting different networks suggests to me that at some point you changed prl's. the prl is what determines which network you connect to, not your feature codes.

My friend has the 50 dollar roaming plan, but only like .05 in the flexbucket, so they put 10 bucks in there, and they can now make calls. So you do need to have money in the flexbucket, even if you have roaming minutes.

Oh and it is the stock cricket prl version 58557 the AWS Roaming PRL. (I mentioned that because I have not seen this PRL listed anywhere on the site).

The simple thing for me to do is just to keep a 1x roaming PRL on my storage card then just QPST and change the PRL out when I start to travel out of the area...then just do the same when I come back.
