If you like your bike and it runs strong then where is the arguement???...

In all honesty, riding should be enjoyable and if these 'friends' are being pricks I would not ride with them...I mean what is the point of being aggravated...

Personally I have had 3 issues including a current ongoing one so I am not super pro-duc at the moment but I am sure my attitude will change once I get it back...

Sounds like money envy to me, people are always haters when they can't afford to pay to play the game. Just call them haters and mention how much better a twin sounds than their tin can rice rocket.

the bikes aren't as reliable as most jap bikes, but they are not pieces of shit. Every bike has its own issues. I'll take character and craftsmanship over the presumed reliability. I had the leak radiator, fixed in a week, not a single issue otherwise.
Also, why do you call these people friends, they seem to be more along the lines of people you ride with than friends.
Generally when people piss me off you have to kill them with kindness. Tell them how great their bikes are and agree that your bike blows, they really only want you to react to what they say. Then pass them and they will feel stupid.

Tell them:

"Hey your jap bikes are like a Honda civic, cheap and reliable. My duc is like a Ferrari, expensive, hand made, fast, and built for performance."

"Last time I checked nobody gives a fuck, or looks twice at a civic. How many people look at a Ferrari and DON'T look twice and say "DAMN, I want that car!"

"Diffrence between my bike and yours......in ten years it will STILL turn more heads then your 2020 - Insert Japanese bike here"

"Race Results don't lie"

"Then tell em' to get fucked!"

Really, what you are facing are individuals who, collectively, are living in denial. It's a sad, yet endemic, affliction that runs rampant with owners of most jap inline fours.

It's called: The Boredom.....

Sufferers of The Boredom try to ease to pain of owning souped-up-sewing-machines by convincing themselves of some form of superiority. These owners-in-denial frequently air their own grievances and hostilities to other brands. They are sadly followers of fashion, not passion, meaning they exhibit a frequent need to update their japlastic crotch-rockets (especially when the Boredom sets in.....again).

The only known cure for the Boredom is enlightment, though it takes tremendous strength of will and character to venture outside of the mainstream. Ducati owners (and Guzzisti, Buell riders, KTM fans,.......) know this joy well....

Repeat my Mantra: I would rather suffer the odd reliability issue than die of Boredom....

Dos Lirio - I've been riding Ducatis for the last 25 odd years and have ALWAYS had to put up with that shit from friends and fellow riders of all types. After a while it just becomes water off a Ducks back (pun intended) and as long as you are happy owning the Ducati then it's their shit and not yours. If they are genuinely good friends then it's just gentle ribbing and good fun.

In the mid 80's a good friend had a GPZ 750 and I had my little 650 Pantah and although he had more outright speed I could always sneak under him in & out of corners and could keep him honest most of the time until the the GPZ's 'legs' kicked in. I like the David & Goliath scenarios.

From the late 70's through to the mid 80's/early 90's Ducati fell away in the HP stakes and the rice burners were always faster etc but they always handled like shit on a stick (IMO - back then at least). I've never been an outright speed purchaser and spec sheets are just that and have always preferred quality (character/soul/ etc etc) over outright quantity.
The old Bevel days, rightly or wrongly, gave Ducati the 'unreliable' stigma that seems to have stuck in the general psyche even to this day it seems. But ask anyone who has lived and loved life with a Bevel what they think about Ducati reliability now compared with the old girls and I'm sure most would agree that it is way better than it used to be and the 'unreliable' tag is no longer valid. At least no more than most other brands.

This thread and the previous one you started have documented some of the other various recalls from the other brands and it's obvious to me at least that Ducati are no different than any other manufacturer. They all have problems of some sort.

But after all this is said and done, JDW summed it up in a nutshell...........the BOREDOM of a cookie cut, ugly, steroided sewing machine - HUGE yawn for me.

I say fuck 'em. I've never had the problem you are experiencing but I could give a rats ass what someone else thinks of my rides. They have major penis envy and wish they could own a bike like yours.

thankyou guys, I wil take your advice and simply do not mind them. I did change my ridng buddies and its the best decision I made. I was surprised that everyone in my club experienced a stupid comment from jap owners, they just take it with a grain of salt and they told me that every now and then, I will hear a sour graping comment. thankyou guys
