Yeah, where to start? They've absolutely ruined sports because of the change in the rules that rule makers still have not changed back.
Speak of the sheer weight that they've added to football thereby making the careers of the players much shorter than they use to be. What about the rules change of virtually no blocking below the knee - in front!!!! They smaller guy now is out of football and I notice that absence of law suits from those smaller, more athletic players.
Plus, what about the owners and GM's in baseball that stood by and watched it all? None of them have been sanctioned or punished but a guy named Pete Rose who bet on his team to win is out for the rest of his life while the commissioner who allowed for this to take over baseball was allowed to stay. The white collar crime in baseball is obscene and yet no one even comments on it. Are they guiltless when they, by standing idly by and allowing it to happen, gave their permission by an absentee vote?
No, it filled their stadiums and put emphasis on the home run and the power part of the game instead of what baseball has been since it's inception - a game of defensive strategy. Not to mention all the kids who saw that if you wanted to be popular in baseball you have to hit the home run and if you want to do that you'd better steroid up - and I'm talking about Jr High kids. Also, what about these Jr. High school coaches and teachers who see these kids get on steroids and give them a pass for their 'roid rage?
Steroids are just a symptom of the ultimate problem and that's the greed of people who will do anything to win. It's not how you play the game it's if you win that counts. Sportsmanship is always the biggest loser.
Plus all the effects of making 'roid raged athlete spokesmen for the game. It only exalts those that will cheat to win and where is any sport's future then? Where indeed, is any country's future afterwards?
