Need some advice switching phones. Going from GSM to CDMA (Verizon)

Okay, this has been sort of weird lately, we've switched from Cingular to Corr Wireless this past week, but we're not liking the service any better, so we're going to give Verizon a try. Right now I'm using the HTC S621 Dash Smartphone, running Windows Mobile 5, and I REALLY like this phone, but it's not going to work on a CDMA network obviously.

So what I'm needing is, something similar to the Dash, the main features I would like to have are:

1. WiFi Internet Access: I don't plan on subscribing to a data plan (will probably have it blocked to avoid unexpected charges) but I do like to be able to browse the internet when I'm not at home.

2. Media playback: I'd love to stick with Windows Mobile, honestly, I've already got a good bit of video converted for my Dash that plays great, though I could certainly convert them again if I had to. I'd like to have a good MP3 / Video player like I do on my Dash (TCPMP)

3. File Transfer / Customization: I know Verizon is horrible about blocking several key features of there phones (I spent the last three days enabling ringtone transfer onto my sister's RAZR), so if there's one out there, I'd like one that will support standard USB transferring, and the ability to make my own custom MP3 ringtones.

4. Bluetooth: Just for my wireless headset at the moment, I really don't do any wireless syncing.

That's the main criteria I'm going by. I'm not too concerned about whether it's a PPC or a Smartphone, either one is fine by me. Also, the camera isn't any concern, I never really use cellphone cameras other than for phonebook pictures.

I've been looking at the AudioVox xv6700 and am liking what I see with that one, but I've seen some pretty poor reviews, mostly knocking the battery life and phone quality, so I'm skeptical.

Any help would be really appreciated, thanks!

Check out the new PPC for sprint, titled Mogul. Sounds like thats what your looking for. I work for sprint, so im really familiar with our phones. I see your switching to CDMA, but since your going Verizon, im not too familiar with their phones. Good Luck though.

Impossible, sorry. First of all, if you get a smartphone with Verizon, they REQUIRE you to get a data plan. Second, they don't have anything similar to the Dash except the Moto Q, which doesn't have WiFi. You'd have to step up to the 6700, which is a side-slide keyboard touch-screen PDA. It's the only thing they've got with WiFi, and they'll still require the data plan.

granted... but the Mogul does have wi-fi and it does not require a data plan. If you were to get one, its only 15 dollars unlimited usage, and especially with this phone since it is upgradeable to the REV-A internet, the fastest out for cell phones.

Thanks for the help jubal, npaladin. Yeah, the xv6700 and the Moto Q were the only similar ones I saw, and I DEFINITELY didn't like the Q at all. The 6700 was a brick. And as far as Sprint goes, they really don't have much of a presence down here in AL (at least in my area), so I just ended up getting the LG VX8550 (the new chocolate). Pretty good phone so far, only cost me $99. I'll just have to get by without all the extras that I'll miss. :P

And ataq, good move.

I have the Q, loved it. Loved is the key word. I am getting so pissed off with it that I want the new U740. Battery life sucks, the phone turns off randomly, keys lag or the letter wont show up so I end up with a text like "hy you wat to meet m at te mvies?".

Hmm, yeah, that's one thing I noticed about the Dash as well, maybe it was just a setting I had wrong, but anytime I would hit the backspace button, it erased TWO letters instead of just one. Yeah, the Q that was on display there just seemed really sluggish. Chocolate ftw.
