well this is one first new car and my parents are gonna be paying for it...i have to make a decision on ford focus (new) for 13000 or a 2006 honda civic (used) for 12000....

the honda has two cars that are offered at 12000...one has a sun-room with a gps but not certified but 38000 mileage....the other is 44000 mileage but certified for a year and i can do that 100000 miles with that 7 years from the buy date.

that or a brand new ford focus....now in the past i know fords suck??...so have they gotten any better?? if not than please tell me....i need to know in the long run.

Here are the reasons to buy the Focus.
1) It is brand new and has a full factory warranty that is not costing you anything at all

2)The certified for one year usually has an either/or stipulation. It's good for one year or up to an x amount of miles, which ever comes first.

3)NEVER take out a 7 year loan on a used car, no matter how low the payments. If you buy the 7 year 100,000 mile warranty you are gonna pay a lot for it at the dealer. (He will only show you how it affects your payments. He will never show you how much the warranty costs. You need to ask him what HIS cost is... not just what he's charging you, but ask him what the DEALER'S cost is for the warranty and try to buy it at his cost IF and only IF you decide to go with the honda or any car yo choose. (Usually they are available for any car you buy).

4)The warranty on a new car is cheaper from an outside party that offers extended warranties. (see warrantydirect.com)

5)The 7 year 100,000 mile warranty is a money maker for the dealer. There are lots of stipulations in that you have to keep up with yourself so you won't void the warranty. (You won't get a chance to read the stipulations while sitting with the finance manager. He wants you to sign as quickly as possible with the least amount of explainations for anything you are signing).

Trust me. I worked at dealerships before. They are there to make money, and they are entitled to that. But please take my advice. You can get the focus and have very low payments, full warranty, put your own miles on it, save gas and money in the long run, and you can buy an extended warranty (if you want one) for cheap from an outside source. (See warrantydirect.com for full explaination).

Good luck, man!

Go for ford there are rumors that honda is gonna go bankrupt and you won't be able to get your money back!
