What's the best in terms of all of the following

reception
sms typing
thin and small
color screen
price (try to keep under $175)

thats about it I don't want any other like camera or bluetooth, I just want a good phone that'll last me a few years

I always found nokia and motorola to be very well built so I would lean towards those 2 companies unless you think otherwise.

I can think of a perfect phone that would fit all your needs...

The Motorola Razr! If you look on ebay you might even be able to get the V3i for under 175.00.

I know I recommend the Razr to alot of people, but it is one of the best phones I have used. They have come down in price so much, that almost anyone can afford one.

They have excellent RF, speakerphone, etc.

Look into them. If you have questions let me know, I have used just about every single razr ever made.

The PEBL is renowned for its reception and it's even cheaper than the RAZR. You can get it from Motorola's website for $139.

It's a little thicker than the RAZR, though. But I like it more.

If you're more of a candybar fan, you can always try the SLVR, or even the L6 or L2.

I agree as well though im not a motorola fan. I would not reccomend one anyways.

I tend to stay away from flip phones as well, too many issues. I like the bar much better.

You mentioned sms typing. you might want to look into an LG 9200 it has a full qwert keyboard that slides out and ive seen it on ebay unlocked for around $100

It has camera and bluetooth as well. I know you said you dont care for that.

I was gonna buy my sis one of these before she swiped my old TREO.

Well, I went and bought a used L6 and as it was on it's way being shipped I found a really good deal on a new L71 and having kids and all I was tempted into getting it for the better camera to catch they're precious moments when my camera isn't on me. Now that I have both phones in the L6 reception is amazing and the L71 makes me sound tinny, the other end sounds great. But I love all the features in the L71 plus the keypad I find is easier to use cuz the L6 keypad is all wavy and it gives me carpoal tunnel syndrome when I'm trying to text. But in the end reception is the most important to me but I was wondering why that they're both SLVR that the L71 has poort reception?
