need simpson fans for audience research x

I watched the movie, but didn't enjoy it as much as the show. Maybe it was the length of the film. I am used to simpsons with short and simple storylines

The thing I like about simpsons is that it makes fun of everything and everyone. The parodies don't stop at the expected topics. The characters are diverse and I think that is what catched the international eye as well as the diverse age and personality that the show appeals to. Also, each character in the show is hilarious . Kinda like the show FrienRAB :D

The other day I was talking to my friend about the lifeline of cartoons. Not sure how the topic came up but... he was saying that it is unfortunate that cartoons don't stay interesting for long (or as you might say, become stagnant) becasue the characters don't change, they never grow up. But I think that that is why I like them so much. Because their character becomes so developed over the years and stay they way you've always loved them

Okay, I babbled, sorry

I wouldnt't say the reception of the movie was poor, but with the current show being a yawnfest, I'd say the movie did quite well opening at 72 million dollars. Even more puzzling is how the movie did VERY well in international markets and has made almost 500 million worldwide.

As for the old Simpsons charm, the opening few minutes between the Itchy and Scratchy short and up to Grandpa's 'vision' at church reminded me of the old-skool simpsons and the only other part that made me feel like I was watching the older show was Marge's video taped "Goodbye". Otherwise, the rest of the movie could've fit right in to the current season, and that's not a compliment.

Hi im a student at uni and am doing a research question regarding the simpsons. I need to obviously do some audience research adn am hoping that people will apply to this comment.
The question im doing is:

Reception of the Simpson's film would suggest that the comedy formula the cartoon has used for over ten years has become stagnant. Discuss.

what i want to ask is what your personal views of the film was, did you think it lived up to the old simpson charm or did it fall short.
It may have done well at the box office but was this because it was the simpsons and people just assumed it would be a safe bet.

any reply would be helpful, even if you dont agree with the question all views welcome.

thanx :D
