I have a bunch of a950's. I have correct driver installed and device manager sees them, but no flashing application can see them. I have flashed another a950 on my pc before with no problem, but for some reason my phone is the only a950 anything can see. These are phones i bought used and they all said "initial programming needed" when turned on.
I programmed one and activated esn on cricket but no dice.
I cant seem to put in dm mode.
Would love some help.

is it listed as a modem, a diag port, a usb device, etc. in device manager???

i am about to go to bad, but i'll look back in on this 2 moro...

if i forget and you still need and answer, give it a little bump sometime after noon central...lol

as well as a usb device. I was google searching and found some other folks with same problem but no solution. My hunch is it has something to do with either not being in dm mode, and ive tried everything to get it in dm mode (secret menu is no-go, unicdma no-go, cdma workshop "no answer")

ok- try this:

-with the phone plugged into your pc and turned on, restart your pc
-now use the kyocera spc tool (little yellow homer simpson) to connect to com2
-if it connect and gets any information, then you will now be able to see it with other software

Note:
if you have a com port then you should be able to access the phone...the only time i have trouble is when there is a port conflict (which the restart with phone plugged in fixes), or when you need some software to initialize the connection(like kyocera spc tool, works great for that)

Thanks Randomwit, but unfortunately it didnt work. For some reason i have this problem with Samsungs- some of them at least. I wonder if I will havbe to break and just sell these for verizon service even though a950s are worth more on cricket market...

whats funny is that my personal a950 can read fine....its the fifty other i have that my pc cant see!...and ironically enough, my a950 is malfunctioning.

if you want to send one my way, i can try to figure out the issue adn let you know what's up...

i'll even ship it back to you free if i can't figure it out...the only charge is i keep the phone if i figure it out...

I am very tempted. I have lots of a950's and sam u420's and I need to figure out how to full flash them. I already know how to full flash the a950's if i can just figure out how to get software to see them!

Eureka!
I thought this at first but couldnt confirm it: all these phones are used, but most of them when turned on the first time say "Initial Programming Needed" which means somehow they were wiped before being sent to me. Some were wiped and some were not. I just flashed one that had not been wiped.
I read somewhere that previously phones that hadnever been activated were harder to flash, though dont remeraber why. Since these phones were restored or deprogrammed or whatever, i wonder if it is having the same effect?
I OTA programmed one and still couldnt see it...but at least I have one so far thats flashed!
Any ideas on dealing with the ones that say "Initial Programming Required"? You guys are great.
PS: Randomwit, if i sent you a samsung u420 would you have proer cable? (same cable as sam d807, etc)

It turns out that previously I OTA'ed a a950 and activated it on my account, but the computer still didnt see it. Then I deactivated it, turned it off for a few hours, scowling at it...and then the pc was able to see it next time I plugged it in! That is weird.
Now whenever I plug in one that doesnt say "inital programming required" all the apps see it. Way weird.
