I'm looking for someone to advise me on what to do with my situation, I got accused of shoplifting at a dollar general store.
I know people are asking what to do and saying they're innocent all the time so whether you believe me, or not I still need help. This is the actual police report, witness statement or complaint.
I'm only going to use the first name, so I don't get into more trouble...
Police spoke with complainant chad. Chad is an employee of the Dollar General Store. Chad explained that he
observed the defendant in an isle, where the glue (just a brand changed) is displayed for sale.
Chad informed your affiant that he watched the defendant fumble with a container of glue. Chad stated that he observed
the defendant lay the glue carton on the shelf. Chad stated that he followed the defendant to the front
of the store where the defendant exited the store. Chad stated went to his vehicle and retrieved his wallet. Chad stated when the defendant
re-entered the store he confronted him about the glue. Chad advised, that the defendant stated to him that he did not take any glue and
said "look I will show you". Chad stated the defendant hurried through the isle to where the glue was. Chad stated the defendant
picked up the empty glue carton, removed the glue from his pocket, and quickly slipped the glue back into the carton. Chad stated he was
only a few steps away from the defendant when all of this occurred. Chad stated the defendant ripped the carton when removing
and replacing the glue. Chad indicated the value of the glue was $4.75
Now those are the facts, and I say facts with hesitation. I went to get my wallet cause I was going to buy some air fresheners
this all happened on a Friday. I was killing some time about to get my girlfriend and go to a mall, right next to the mall was a
wal-mart where my mom works and I could stop by my house and get my mom's discount card, and buy the same glue for $2.00 Ill admit
I did not put the glue back where it was, I laid it on the shelf below it. Another thing, this store is full of camera's yet I wasn't
on any of them, on that note Chad doesn't even say he seen me put the glue in my pocket, he just says I fumbled with the carton.
I would very much like a lawyer to shed some light on this please. I applied for a public defender but because I have a full time
job I'm not eligible, I would like to pay for a lawyer but its $700+ dollars and with student loans It would end up being more in late fees then it would to pay for a lawyer.
I forgot to mention, and I know this is a big deal, this is my 2nd offense. Now I know this next part is 100% irrelevant, but my 1st offense I plead guilty, I got charged for stealing a show shovel I was a bad bad bad very bad joke gone wrong which I now know it's going to mess everything up.
