Getting married 9-5-09. Need ideas for well...everything. Going to ride a horse down a path to a pond. Getting married in front of the pond. Tent with BBQ pit for meal. Horseshoes are going to be involved somehow. Color is Burnt Orange. Mums are going to be the flowers. Just wondering if anyone has done something like this or has any ideas. Thanks everyone!

I like the suggestion of mason jars. I saw a picture somewhere of hanging mason jars with candles in them. Very rustic and yet elegant. I'm doing a somewhat rustic wedding myself at the end of Sept in the mountains with bbq too! I also chose burnt orange. We must both have good taste;) I am using a lot of pumpkins and neutral colors, but early Sept. may be too early to find ripe ones...just a thought.

Bird of paradise as the flower (orange) plus I like the other suggestion of the pumpkins. Or wheat in a vase.

Lots of hay bales, hession, Orange and white checked bows, old tin cans make good vases too - such as baked bean cans etc.

Photos with the horses will be nice. Have some, spurs and top boots, saddles, old skulls or long horns etc decorated throughout your theme. Perhaps you could incorporate cards as a theme as well, like a saloon.

centerpieces: get some old (but cleaned) boots, fill them with the mums. Place a horsehoe on the front part (where the arch of the foot goes) put a matching orange bandana underneath like a placemat.

you can also use bandanas tied together at the corners to put across haybales, or across the back of your getaway vehicle, or along the top edges of the BBQ tent. They can also be tied/wrapped around candles.
Definitely get some white cowgirl boots to go with the dress.

you should ride the horse up to a certain point (tie it to a tree, or hand off to a wrangler) and have your father meet you here and walk you the last little bit. Tie some orange ribbons in its mane.

I haven't known anyone personally to use this theme but I have heard people on here talk about it and I love the idea. Here are some thoughts...

Use barrels for cocktail tables.
Set up wagon wheels on their sides and have them hold candles.
Milk pails filled with wheat and cattails tied with a ribbon.
Hay bales would be fun for pictures.
It would be really cute to have a wagon ride plus another great picture opportunity.
Cute wedding favors would be little jars of jam and jellies.
Sometime fun may be a short square dancing lesson. I know I would love something like that.
Pumpkins could be used since your color is burnt orange. Carve pumpkins with hearts and swirls and use as centerpieces.
You could also put candles in mason jars with ribbon tied around them.

(Make sure your horseshoes are pointed upwards so the luck doesn't "run" out!)
