This is my first post on the board. I've found reading this board to be really helpful.
My spinal surgeon has recommended fusion for L5-S1, and I'm looking for a second opinion before I do anything. Can anyone recommend a surgeon in the Houston area (I live near Sugar Land).
My current doc has recommended a TLIF with a PEET implant. I have had two previous discectomies/laminectomies ( in 2005, and Feb 2010). I have a recurrent herniated disc, severe degeneration, spondylolisthesis (grade 1), stenosis, and arthritis at L5-S1. I suffer from constant pain, sometimes very severe, and it interferes with my daily life and care of my two daughters age 4 and 20 months.
I had my previous surgery in Feb to remove a 1 inch free fragment of herniated disc that was causing debilitating pain and my right foot to be nurab 24/7. The feeling came back a couple of months after surgery. At this point I suffer from back pain, leg pain, low flexabilty (from the spondy), and over the last few months I've started tripping over my left foot quite a bit.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has had this surgery...Any advice you have. The foot tripping thing worries me...will that get better with surgery?
