Ok so I have a blackberry pearl 8100 and I can't receive all ma txt people tell me that when they txt me it says my phone is not a valid wireless device can any1 tell me or help me fix this problem I have t mobile

Hi Cashis,

It sounds like your device is provisioned incorrectly. Is this a new device or have you had it for a while and this trouble just started?

If you just upgraded to the 8100 it's not uncommon for service providers to fail to properly provision you over to a data plan, etc., or your device hasn't received the proper service books.

Furthermore, if you purchased the device second-hand (such as on e-bay, etc.) you must notify your carrier of your device's new IMEI number... it must match your SIM or all kinds of weird things can happen.

Hope this helps, let me know the outcome.

Thanks

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i have had this phone since November it is tha first phone and only I have had wit t mobile I'm not exactly sure how long I have had this problem ma friends have jus now started tellin me bout it so if it is this provision Or service book thing how do I fix this

If your friends are telling you that it's a bad number, etc., it sounds like a network error, which could have to do with your provisioning, but more likely the network.

1.) Are your friends texting you from t-mobile or another network?
2.) Are they unable to text you no matter where you're at physically? (e.g. within a different cell / tower range area)
3.) Try sending yourself a text... if you get an error cut/paste it here.

Well if they're texting you from a different carrier, there may be network issues causing the trouble. For example, if you can troubleshoot by seeing if it's just people from AT&T or another carrier who can't get through, it could be on their network's side, or the interlink is having issues. If it's just been happening recently (within say the past 12 hours) I'd blame it on network failure/difficulties.

How about PIN messages? Those working?

It doesn't show the 'd' next to the check mark on my end, so it sounds like inter-carrier issues (I'm on AT&T). Your friends are probably on AT&T or other networks as well--It's likely intermittent. How long has it been happening?

You can also try sending me a PIN 2449E902

I received your PIN and replied, got a delivered confirmation. The first test PIN I sent had an extra 24 in it. But that doesn't resolve much, as the data transferred P2P is more directly through the BB network (via the carrier) but doesn't require the same hand-offs and translations that an SMS does... your troubles don't seem to be device-side.

Long and short of it is that if it continues to happen longer than say 12 hours, you'll have to call your carrier. (I'm assuming you're not on a BES, if so check with your BES admin, he/she might be able to resolve it easier/through quicker channels).

Hopefully your issue has been resolved; As I said, it sounds like it was a network problem. If another outcome/problem is the actuality, let us know, I'd be interested in knowing what the resolution was.

Thanks!
