So I've been playing since about 5 or 6th grade. (I'm in 9th now) and I'm prerty good. I'm trying to make a sort of power ballad/ 70s rock song. I've got the lyrics (well somewhat of them) but I'm having trouble pairing them with a guitar part. I play mostly rythm but I can sorta play lead. is there anything I can do to try and get something to sound good together thatd be a great help! By the way its about a girl that I broke up with last year. I was afraid that I was falling in love so I used a lame excuse when I broke up with her. Now like everytime I see her I feel horrible

First of all you need a guitar. It's worthless to make music if you don't have an instrument, right?

Once you have all the stuff you need to write the song, probably in this case just a guitar, amp and mic, you'll want to make up the vocal melody. Sing it a lot, get it memorized. Play your guitar acoustically, and strum power chords, finding which ones sound good with which lyrics. After you have it acoustically, plug in your guitar and mess around with some effects that you are aiming for. After you have found some chords that are great with the vocals and the right effect, you'll want to consider adding drum or bass or keyboard. For now I'd recommend using a beat on a keyboard, and you'll want a bassist to play the basic chords you are.

Then you'll have the best song EVER
