2) A motor cycle is stopped at a traffic light. When the light turns green, the motorcycle accelerates at a rate of 2.5m/s (squared) [N] for 5.5s Calculate

a) The velocity of the motorcycle after 5.5s.
b) THe displacement of the motorcycle after 5.5s.

Please show me the equations used and the final answer. Vector signs and delta signs are not needed. (The ^ symbol indicates an exponent)

Thank you in advance ^^

I assume this problem is in straight line motion with constant acceleration.
a) Initial velocity(vo)=0m/s, because it starts at rest
v=vo+at
v=0m/s+(2.5m/s²)(5.5s)
v=13.75m/s

b) You can solve the problem in three ways:
?x=[(vo+v)/2] t
=[(0m/s+13.75m/s)/2]5.5s
?x=37.8125m
OR
x=xo+vot+(1/2)at²
x-xo=vot+(1/2)at²
?x=0m/s(5.5s)+(1/2)(2.5m/s²)(5.5s)²
?x=37.8125m
OR
use (v² - vo²)/2a=?x
derived from
v²=vo²+2a(x-xo)

All will arrive to the same answer.The choice is yours.
Don't forget to round off all final answers up to 2 significant figures.
