Need help with room colour & wallpaper ideas? Bookshelf's wallpaper or paint?

Right, at first i wanted my room red, (because its warm colour), but i kind of like the black furniture that goes with it! But mam says NO BLACK lol! So any ideas on that one, also what furniture and features and other colours should I have with the red paint!
Had another idea, a themed room with bookshelf wallpaper,but stuck on what else to put on, obv can't have all room like that can i? I'm thinking mahogany type wallpaper as well! Any ideas? I want the room warm and cosy, Also another idea is a themed apothecary type room, because i do pharmacy at university! What could i do for that? Thanks!
 
think about a light khaki color for the walls and bed spread to go with the black furniture and bright red accents. Pillows, throw rugs, etc. Wooden slats on the windows. Very guy! You can display a collection of apothecary bottles among shelves of your school books. A huge bottle could set on the floor next to your desk and make a great place to start dropping your coins in to save $$$.
