Need help with my mac book pro?

I recently got a mac book pro and I would like to rip or copy a couple of dvd's onto the hard drive for when I fly to California in a week. I haven't been able to figure how to do it, could someone please let me know exactly what i need to do. Thanks for all you help in advance
