My girlfriends sister stuck a zip tie in the passenger side door lock. And it broke off inside when I was trying to get it out. Is there a way to get the lock cylinder out or do I need to take it to a mechanic to have it removed.

A local locksmith might be a cheaper route, or you can try to blow compressed air into the cylinder while holding the small door open, might work, might not.... To get the lock apart, you would need to remove the door panel, the rod, then remove the clip that locks the cylinder into the door, but the cap is pressed on, and you can't remove it without replacing it, so you will need other help.

You will probably find that there is no way you can take the cylinder apart. you might try getting a pair of tweezers and see if you can get hold of it with them and pull it out. easily push the little spring loaded door that the key goes in and see if you can see it. BE GENTLE with the spring loaded door. Capitalization is meant to stress a point not to be rude.
