Need help with hiking boots . .?

I bought Vasque boots (don't remember the model) at REI for a hike in the rocky mountains, and after 4 miles, my feet were killing me. I tried to break them in at work for 2 weeks before hand. My toes were so squished.
I need a wide toe box but I have extremely small heels. So any ideas on boot models?
