It all depends on what genres you are into. Think about what type of movies you like to see. Right now I'm reading the hannibal lecter series by Thomas Harris. I wouldn't recommend them if you aren't used to reading. (A lot of pages and a couple of tough words here and there.)
If you are into fantasy, Harry Potter or Twilight is popular. In all honesty I believe those series are over rated. If you want any mystery/suspense/thriller type of thing, look into some James Patterson maybe.
Dean Koontz I hear is good but to be honest, I've yet to read a book from him. =] Good luck and I hope you find something worth reading. If you like an author, remember the name.
