Im thinking about buying two kicker L5 10s and the guy was going to put in a 1000w class d mono block amp. would this amp work well with these subs? Because my friend said that if i ran that combo i would blow the amp i less than 2 months. Is this true ?

i dont know much about kickers but i have two 13 inch competion subs powered by a 800 watt class D mono block amp and i have never had any problems hope i helped

first of all, are the subs dual 2 ohm voice coils? or 4 ohm dual voice coils?

and does that amp do 1000rms @ 2 ohms, or 1000 rms @ 1 ohm

whats the model number of the amp and subs? post back with them and i can tell you if this is perfect or not, and no i wouldnt go with anything more than 1000rms watts, if the subs are dual 2 ohm voice coils and the amp does 1000rms @ 2 ohms you wire the subs into a single 2 ohm load (parrallel) and the subs will get total of 1000rms (500rms to each) which is PERFECT you dont wanna over-power the l5 subwoofers too much.
