you been?"? I have had lots of trouble this semester pleasing my professor... I am usually a pretty good writer and got a lot better last semester with a very supportive teacher. Unfortunately, this professor is a little different. He is older and set in his ways, and when asked what we had to do to get an "A" in the class/ essays his response... "You have to be able to write as good as someone who is being published."
I wanted to make sure I gave you a preview into what I'm dealing with.
Our assignment asks us to explain the cultural and/or psychological reasons for Connie's eventual submission to the smooth talk of Arnold Friend in Joyce Carol Oates' "Where are you going, where have you been?"
I am usually good at breaking up my essay and creating a thesis, it has worked in the past, but not this class. So far I've gotten a C- and a D+ on two papers, and this is after "revisions" he suggests.
I would really appreciate any pointers on how I can write an outstanding essay and not get back another bleeding essay before I fail this class...
Thanks a lot!!!
